J Albert Brown –– “J” (yes, his first name is just the letter “J”, named after his Great-Grandfather’s nick-name) –– represents the second generation of the Brown family attorneys. He is David’s oldest son. J is the firm’s newest associate, working out of St. Johns, mainly on water issues.
J grew up in St. Johns, working on the family cattle ranch, irrigating alfalfa fields and gardens, and milking the family Jersey cow every morning. J enjoyed his youth scouting experience, and is proud to be an Eagle Scout. Before J decided to settle back in St. Johns, he spent time traveling the world. First stop, Laie, Hawaii, where J finished his senior year of high school and attended college at BYU-Hawaii. In the middle of his schooling, J served a church mission in Brazil for two years, speaking Portuguese. After his mission, J returned to BYU-Hawaii and graduated in 2005 in Communications/International Cultural Studies. While at school, J met his wife, Christy, during a filmmaking class. They moved around a lot while J was deciding “what he wanted to be when he grew up.”
The couple’s sojourns included Hawaii, Utah, Maryland, Puerto Rico, D.C., Texas, Indiana. J operated his own video production business for 5 years, and installed alarm systems during the summers to help pay the video production business bills. When video production and alarms were not going to support his family, J turned his attention to law school.
He attended Phoenix School of Law (currently named AZ Summit Law), and finished as fast as he could (2 years) by taking night and summer classes. During their travels and adventures, J and Christy had 5 amazing children (ages 10 to 9 months). J now enjoys practicing water law with his father, while also serving as the BSA Venturing scout advisor and the high school boys soccer coach.
